I love Disney movies and have created several boards that are based on Disney stories (mostly about the princesses). I’m sharing these themed wedding boards with you in a series. Check back each week for another themed board.
Please note that these “Themed Weddings” are not intended to be a Disney princess wedding. If we go too literal this will look like a little girl’s birthday party. The intent is to give you ideas based on the setting, feel, season and/or colors of certain movies. The photos are from Pinterest and lead directly to their pin.
This week’s wedding is inspired by Disney’s movie Hercules. This wedding can go two directions in color theme. You can have classic Mediterranean white and blue, or you can use white with purple colors that were symbolic or royalty and the gods. Either way, this blog and connected Pinterest board are meant to inspire a wedding fit for the Greek and Roman gods and demigods. Enjoy the gold accents, sandals and breezy dresses. I hope you enjoy this Hercules inspired wedding.
Theme Setting: Outdoors with Greek and mythology influences
Color Scheme: White and Blue, or Purples and Gold
A unique wedding calls for unique invitations.
I really think these scrolls are a perfect fit!
This wedding dress is so great!
I love that the chiffon adds a flowy feel to the structured shift.
It’s a beautiful mixture of modern styles with a Geek goddess twist.
While there are shoes with wings on them (like Hermes), I thought it would be better to
go with something more subtle…like these gold gladiator knee-high shoes. 🙂
Okay, jewelry is such a fun frosting to the whole outfit.
This bracelet is so amazing! I love the golden ropes!
Greek hair is usually portrayed as a mass of hair naturally down,
but it can’t hurt to add some curls and a flower.
The other hairstyle that comes to mind is a complicated combination of braids.
I am in awe of this style. It’s like a mixture of a french and fish braid.
There are a TON of chiffon bridesmaid dresses to choose from.
I really liked this style with the loops of fabric off the shoulder.
If you want something kind of simple to balance the goddess in the bridesmaids,
try using lavender for bouquets.
If it’s a wedding fit for the mythological gods, then the setting is important.
This beautiful rotunda is decked out with chiffon draping, sparkly chandeliers and flowers.
I love the idea of using pomegranates to hold the place cards.
Pomegranates are a part of the mythological story of Persephone.
You don’t have to use purple napkins, but this idea of flower chain napkin rings is great!
This all white table setting is beautiful and airy.
This is great for a Mount Olympus feel.
For a pop of color, try adding the traditional blue in typical Greek fashion.
Decorations can really make a theme come to life. This golden screen really defines the space.
Wedding cake is one thing that everyone looks forward to. People break their diets
just for the savory taste of cake and icing! Our Hercules cake has a clean coat of white icing
and beautiful figs topping it.
At a Greek wedding, you can’t forget about the importance of family and dance.
There are many traditional dances that involve everyone!
As a parting favor for your guests, treat them to bottle of olive oil.
Cooking food is a great way of creating more happy memories with family and friends.
I hope you enjoyed this Hercules wedding! Salute!
