I love Disney movies and have created several boards that are based on Disney stories (mostly about the princesses). I’m sharing these themed wedding boards with you in a series. Check back each week for another themed board.
Please note that these “Themed Weddings” are not intended to be a Disney princess wedding. If we go too literal this will look like a little girl’s birthday party. The intent is to give you ideas based on the setting, feel, season and/or colors of certain movies. The photos are from Pinterest and lead directly to their pin.
This week’s wedding is inspired by Disney’s movie Brave. This theme was difficult to put together because it is so easy to go cheesy with the Gaelic and plaid inspiration. I hope you enjoy this Brave themed wedding.
Theme Setting: Old and traditional with a woodsy feel
Color Scheme: Deep Reds, Dark Green, Plaids
First things first, the engagement ring. What do you think about this gorgeous emerald ring?!
I really like this simple white invitation with the beautiful forest cutout.
It’s great with the woodsy feel.

I love finding dresses that have an unusual style.
This one has traditional lace and a simple shift, but the cream on white makes it modern and stunning.
For bridal hair it would be best to go with a simple and natural concept, like this braid.
This bridal bouquet incorporates the Scottish thistle.
It’s a beautiful lavender blue and can be paired with cream and burgundy flowers, greenery and filler.
If this is a wedding theme you’re hoping to replicate, you probably have a Scottish heritage.
Find your family tartan pattern. Also, don’t feel pressured to make the groomsmen plaid match.
This groomsman gift is so great. Pocket watches are not always common, but they’re memorable.
The best part is that you can personalize them with an engraved message.
During the ceremony, there are a ton of ways to incorporate Gaelic traditions.
A groom can place his family tartan plaid around his new wife’s shoulders to symbolize the change in families.
Another tradition is hand-fasting. This involves fabric circling the couple’s hands while they say their vows.
This reception area has beautiful wooden floors and ceilings. The chandeliers are grand and old-fashioned.
The tulle and lights add a bit of whimsy to the space.
The reception is a great time to use plaid as a runner. The candle sticks and cut glass complete the traditional feel.
Simple place cards look so great in these handmade wooden brackets.
This is also inexpensive and easy to make!
This wooden bear is a great way to show off the menu or drink options.
I love this birch wood wedding cake with the berries. It’s very understated and elegant.
How perfect is this for a woodsy wedding?
Toasting glasses can be fun because they can add to the theme and be treasured afterward.
These silver toasting flutes are gorgeous and the design is perfect.
Hope you enjoyed this bonny, Brave inspired wedding!
