I had the honor of throwing a bridal shower with some friends recently. The bride loves Disney’s Frozen. Since the party was set for January we decided to go with a Frozen Winter Wonderland theme. I know a lot of people love the movie and winter theme so I wanted to show what we did in case other people are looking for ideas.
I designed some cute invitations that we had printed. The photo below shows the front. The back was similar and had the basic information listed. We mailed them before Christmas so that we could include a snowflake ornament. These little tokens could be used for decoration as well as being a reminder of the fun to come.
Our colors were silver, white and grey. We decided to decorate with a lot of snowflakes, some cut from paper and others bought from the store. Snowflakes and spirals of paper hung from the ceiling in the entry, hallway and breakfast room. The living room was simply draped in white crepe paper and really tied all the other spaces together. Of course the mantel was also decorated with a cute banner, white candles and glass beads. For flowers we used white Hydrangeas and Baby’s Breath in a glass vase with clear and white beads in the bottom.
We served homemade hot chocolate with peppermint sticks, whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles and white chocolate snowflakes. We also had a glass pitcher of water with cranberries in the ice to add a pop of color. The cute grey paper straws were placed in an apothecary jar and a few extra lanterns dressed up the drink bar.
My sweet mother-in-love (not crazy about the “in-law” part that becomes a joke) loaned me these adorable little glasses. They were perfect for the vanilla pudding with white chocolate snowflakes on top. The whole thing was very easy to make.
We had white cupcakes with large and small snowflakes on top. They fit perfectly on these glass displays!
Here are some pictures of the food and table décor. We used a metallic tablecloth with white and glass serving pieces. We had the standard cheese, crackers and nuts. You can see the vanilla pudding glasses and the snowflake cupcakes. We also had white chocolate pretzel sticks. The bride LOVES peanut butter Oreos and white chocolate, so her grandmother dipped mini peanut butter Oreos in white chocolate. They were really tasty. Another item I was really excited about was the frozen fruit. After freezing fruit, you put it in a bowl and let it sit a few minutes. It will eventually develop a frosted look that was perfect for the theme.
The bride’s grandmother bought these wonderful white candles from Bath and Body Works as party favors. We wrapped them up in white tissue paper with a translucent ribbon and added a little note. The note mimicked a line from Frozen, “Some people are worth melting for.”
