Most graduations have tear-jerker moments. Rueben’s happened during his senior portrait session.

Not only is this remarkable young man graduating from La Vega High School with honors while working a job. He’s also graduating with his associate’s degree from MCC thanks to all the dual credit he’s diligently completed.

He’s headed down to the University of Texas to study architecture, and his mom is so proud.

However, in the middle of the session, Rueben surprised his mom by putting his cap on her. She didn’t get a chance to wear one and worked so hard to raise her children. This was one way he could honor her and all her efforts. She was crying, Rueben might have had tears – not really sure since I was trying to hold it together. These are the moments that are so precious between family members. I was honored to catch them.

Rueben loves music and architecture so we embraced his interest at Vintage Mio Records and at a few of the cool buildings downtown.

Congratulations, Rueben! You’re incredible and are headed to more amazing things!
